Veterans Day, New York City: In this November 11 photo, New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio and Navy Secretary Ray Mabus watch respectfully as participants in a wreath-laying ceremony honor veterans at the start of the America’s Parade, held each year in New York City. The N.Y. parade is one of the largest in the country, and includes thousands of participants and tens of thousands of parade watchers. The parade is part of Veterans Week.

After a brief ceremony at the Eternal Light Monument near Madison Square Park, the parade route primarily follows Fifth Avenue in Manhattan—from 26th Street to roughly 52nd Street , and was covered this year by several television stations in New York.
